AED Required in SC?

In South Carolina, there is no state law that specifically requires businesses or workplaces to have an automated external defibrillator (AED) on-site. However, certain industries such as healthcare facilities, schools, and fitness centers may have specific regulations or guidelines that require them to have an AED available.

Additionally, while not required by law, many workplaces choose to have an AED on-site as a proactive measure to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees and customers. AEDs can be an effective tool in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) emergency, as they can help to restore normal heart rhythm and increase the chances of survival.

If a workplace chooses to have an AED on-site, it is important to ensure that employees are properly trained on its use and that the device is regularly maintained and tested to ensure its effectiveness in an emergency.
