What is Risk?

Risk in occupational safety refers to the likelihood or probability of harm or injury occurring in the workplace. This harm can include physical injury, illness, or psychological harm. Risks in the workplace can arise from a variety of factors, including equipment, machinery, chemicals, and other hazards that may be present.

Occupational safety professionals typically assess risks in the workplace by conducting hazard assessments and identifying potential risks. Once risks have been identified, they work to develop and implement controls and mitigation strategies to minimize the likelihood of harm.

It's important for employers and employees to be aware of potential risks in the workplace and take proactive steps to prevent accidents and injuries. This may include providing training and education to employees, ensuring that safety equipment and protective gear is readily available, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
